The last time Adora came toward her this quickly was-- ]

[ she pushes Sabre's hair aside to feel around at her neck. ]

[ There's a round little mottled scar at her nape ]

How many memories did you take this time?

it was a commonality in their worlds, then. shit. ]

Two each. They were-- There were things the same. It...It looks like the same thing happened in both of our universes-, but--

[ she's panicking. ]

[ The more Adora panics, the more Sabre panics ]

I had a memory where you were taken captive, and this Horde Prime guy demanded I surrender myself for you when I went after you. And then the other Adora got a memory of Kohime all weird...like she was being controlled to fight her? With this chip thing in her neck.

And she-- They were fighting on this platform, and--

[ calm down, she needs to calm down ]

Kohime fell. Right into the darkness and that's where it stopped.

[hissterics]

[ One of Sabre's hands flies to the back of her neck, paling a little like she's just had cold water dumped on her ]

But-- But our worlds aren't the same!

[dumbjockenergy]

I know, but-- What if some things are? What if--

[ this is awful ]

You don't remember anything after that, but what if Kohime does? Maybe?

[hissterics]

Even if she does, she wouldn't tell me!

Yes she would. And if she wouldn't, I would make her.

Yes! And if it doesn't I'll keep buying memories until we know!

[ She tenses up, ears flattening. If she's really dead back home, then -- then what's left for her after this place? ]

[ Snapped, harsher than intended: ] Stop being stupid!

[ And then a pause, fists clenching, claws pricking into her own hands. ]

You can't change the past, Adora. If I'm really dead back home, then--

[ Her mouth snaps shut, like she doesn't actually know how to finish that thought. ]

[dumbjockenergy]

You're not. You can't be. That was Kohime, it was different--!

[ she pulls out her phone, hurridly counting under her breath. ]

I have 1900 points left. That can get me five memories. If you're actually dead, then one of them would tell me, wouldn't it? Since they want to be awful to us all the time?

[hissterics]

[ She puts her hand over Adora's phone and shoves it back down. ]

Don't.

[ She doesn't want to know. It's better to just not know. ]

But-- Sabre--

[ Adora needs to know, she has to. could she possibly have failed Sabre that badly? ]

I remembered our promise, Sabre. That was the other memory. We look out for each other. I can't just-- If I failed you--!!

[hissterics]

[dumbjockenergy]

[ does Sabre not remember the actual promise yet...?

Adora steps forward to hold Sabre's face in her hands, pressing their forehead together. ]

Remember the promise in the memory I showed you? That wasn't the first time we made it. We did it when we were little kids. We were so young, Sabre.

[ her throat feels tight. the rush of emotions memories evoke are always a little too much to handle. ]

You look out for me, and I look out for you. Nothing bad can happen as long as we have each other.

[hissterics]

[ She saw it in Kohime's heart. But knowing for sure that it was the same--

She doesn't move away, her voice coming out a little shaky. ]

Guess you really meant it.

[dumbjockenergy]

Of course I did. I always did. I'm...sorry, Sabre. For all the fighting. But I always meant my promise.

[hissterics]

Then-- Then just stay here instead of running away, or--

[ She sucks in a harsh breath, tail jerking ]

[ Need someone right now, she'll never say.

But she's lost a lot in the last 48 hours. ]

[ She shifts to return the hug now, forcefully, claws raking Adora's back just a bit.

This probably means launching her weight forward, so sorry if they tumble to the ground, her bad. ]
